Instructions and sign up for 2011 paranormal romance reading challenge

Instructions and sign up for 2011 paranormal romance challenge

Photobucket

This is a challenge to read 20 paranormal romance book between Jan 1st through Dec 31st. Any books read before Jan will not count.

You can pick any *adult paranormal romance book as you go, new release or old release it doest matter. But remember this is only for paranormal romance.  NO urban fantasy, YA or paranormal erotica. If you have any questions please email me or leave a comment.

*It doesn't matter if the book is vampire, witch, any shape-shifting, Greek gods, zombies or faeries just as long as it adult paranormal romance. Most book will tell you on the side cover if its paranormal romance, that's what you want to get to read. If you have a book you don't know if it would work or not just email me and ask, its no bother.

Here is some examples
Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark Hunters
Lynsay Sands An Argeneau series
Nina Bangs Gods of Night series

Just because I said no erotica doesn't mean I want you to read books with no sex in them these listed above have sex in them, but they are not considered erotica we know the difference. The reason I said no erotica is because I am also hosting an Erotica paranormal romance next year too and I want them separate.

Each month I will put out a newsletter of sort and in there will be some choices of different books. You can comment and ask questions as we go. That way we can get ideals as we go.

Read it and write a review on your blog and come back and post the review in the Mister linky. I will have a mister linky for each month so don't worry.

During each month there will be one winner that is picked to win a prize.  Your reviews will not be judged in this for prizes. After each month I will used random.org or draw a name, out of those that have their reviews done for that month. Your name will be entered for each review. So if you do two you will be entered to win twice.

To sign up place your name along with your blogs name below in the first box. Then you blogs link in the second box link. I hope you have fun and find some good PNR reads.

If you don't have a blog and would like to join in, please email me your name and state which challenge that your joining. Then when your done reading just email me your review. I will add your name to the hat for the giveaways.

Last for those of you that don't write reviews and want to do this challenge and are afraid of writing reviews, please don't worry about what you write just as long as you tell a little about what you liked and or disliked about the book.  This is not to judge you on how you write reviews, but to challenge you to do more and have fun.

Questions please email me you can find it under contact.

Morning! This may sound like a silly question, but the book blogging/reviewing world is fairly new to me. What is a closed HEA? I would love to sign up, but I don't want to break the rules. :)

Leslie said...

2 Questions:
What is a closed HEA?
Do they have to be new releases?

I want to sign up but want to understand before I do.
Thanks

Ronda Tutt said...

Wow, I am up to a challenge and this sounds excellent. I will give it my best shot.

Laurie (BittenbyParanormalRomance) said...

Treresa- Thanks for letting me know and I just added what is a closed HEA. Let me konw if I didnt expalin it good enough. Some things are hard to expalin.

Leslie- yes, you can add new or old release.I also added an explanation for closed HEA.

Theresa @ TheCreativeWell said...

Ok, so basically, the book can be part of a series as long as each book could stand alone, right? They can't end in a manner where you have to read the next book in order to find out the ending of the story. Let me know if I'm understanding that correctly, and thanks for explaining :)

I'm in!

Laurie (BittenbyParanormalRomance) said...

Ok ladies I took off the closed HEA, its just to confusing and most of you know the differnece between paranormal romance and UF anyways.

Ashley (Ashley's Bookshelf) said...

So can they be YA paranormal romances?

Kristen said...

Laurie (BittenbyParanormalRomance) said...

Ashley- Since I am an adult book blogger I have to say no sorry, I think it would be best to leave the YA to thoses that read it. Thanks for aksing me bacause I never thought about it.

What is your definition of Paranormal Romance? There are books I would put within the Parnormal Romance genre but other smight not..do you class Paranormal Romance as vampires and werewolves only or does it include faeries, zombies etc?

Thanks

Diana (Book of Secrets) said...

This sounds like fun! Thanks for hosting!

Laurie (BittenbyParanormalRomance) said...

AngelGoneMad- as long as it says on the side cover or back of the book paranormal romance I dont care if its any of thoses you stated. I added this in the post. Thanks for asking I never thought about classifying them.

Ragan (Location 2571) said...

Paranormal Romance but not Paranormal Erotica? Have I been so corrupted that I can't tell the difference between the two? lol

So does it mean there has to be love with the smut, or no smut at all?

Kelley said...

Gave me an error on my first try...

I love paranormal romance so this shouldn't be too difficult. well, the reading anyhow. I've been slow on getting reviews written lately so that's where I'll have to work a little bit harder.

darkreader said...

This sounds interesting. I will do my best to write reviews, I'm still working on this. I do read alot of paranormal romance!!

Natasha A. said...

Is this open to international participants? I love the idea of this!

Stephanie said...

I'm in! I haven't read a lot of paranormal romances lately due to other committments but I've always enjoyed this genre and this will be a fantastic way to get me 'back in the game' so to speak. Thanks for hosting!!!

Leah said...

I'm in! Sounds like a great challenge! :)

Laurie (BittenbyParanormalRomance) said...

Natasha A. - Yes it is.

Ragan (Location 2571) LOL I agree it does get hard to tell the difference at times;) You can still find some good smut in these RNR books Christine Warren is borderline her Other series, they are freaking hot, but still not erotica.

Brandi said...

I have read probably about 50 PNR in the past year so the reading isnt going to be hard...BUT I have never written a real review beyond a sentence or two so this is going to be interesting.

Natasha A. said...

Well I'm in! :D

I signed up! I have never read any of these types of books. Could you give me a tad bit of help with this?

Right now I'm reading: The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton, and I have another one: Dark Slayer by Christine Feehan

Are those ok or am I on the wrong track? I really want to branch out what I read so if you have any suggestions e-mail me at: newandreviewshodd@gmail.com

Raven said...

Good challenge. That's my favorite category of books. Specially Kenyon. She's awesome.
I don't think that I'll write long reviews about the books but try to put down my expressions and feelings. I hope I'll read the right type of stories. Any suggestion from someone?
Anyway, have fun :D
