Here at
Bitten by Paranormal Romance (BBPR), we believe in paranormal “Happily Ever
After” (HEA)! What we don’t read is sparkly vampires, oh no, we like them hard
in all kinds of ways, LOL.
Hello, my
name is Laurie. I am a mom who loves to read. I started this blog in 2009.
Since then this blog has not only grown in requests, it has also grown in
reviewers. Some of the reviewers have been here a long time and are now
considered my closest best friends and some new ones will be quickly added to
that great list too. My fabulous reviewers are now becoming my entrusted staff (they
are called the Bitten Wolf Pack) and you can find out a little bit about each
of them by clicking here. Each of us here at Bitten has a passion for reading
and we love to share our love of reading with anyone.
This is an
18 and over blog. We read adult paranormal romance books with some steamy sex
in them, so please keep this in mind when sending your review request.
BBPR also
accepts paranormal erotic romance authors, self-published and traditional
authors and novellas, but your title must be at least 60 pages long to be
considered.
Self-published
authors, please send an edited book copy, which has been edited by someone
other than you.
What we do not review: Teen, young adult, urban fantasy. If we get any of these it will be a decline email sent back to you the author.
We are all
careful about our reviews because we know authors work hard writing their
books. We keep in mind even if we don’t care for a book, someone else will. We
give our honest opinion in reviewing your book. We also do our best to not
spoil a book and if there are some spoilers, we warn first. We don’t share
digital copies or sell them, same goes for ARC copies.
We accept
paranormal romance, erotic paranormal romance and sci-fi romance. Please look
at the definitions below and make sure your book has these elements.
Romance: The
plot of a romance centers around a couple that fall in love and have a “happily
ever after” ending. This is a must; there are no exceptions. If your couple is
not happily in love and together at the end of your book, it’s not a romance.
It might be a love story (in which case, it would go under women’s fiction) but
a romance has to have a "happily ever after." You can have subplots,
but the main plotline must be about the couple’s romance. Now, there are so
many subgenres to the Romance genre (many totally unique to romance) that I
will do a separate post on these next week, so stay tuned.
Paranormal:
Paranormal stories are set in the real world, the world as we know it…with a
little extra thrown in. Vampires, shapeshifters, fairies, elves, witches,
demons, gargoyles, ghosts, psychics, mediums, telepaths, time travelers…these
all belong in the paranormal world. Use the same test as we used for the
fantasy worlds…if you can take away the “weird” factors and you are left with
our everyday world = paranormal. For example, if you take away the sparkling,
gorgeous vampire, or vengeful ghost, or the time portal the main characters
travel through, and you are left with everyday Earth – your story is paranormal
fiction. Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files and Charlaine Harris’ Sookie
Stackhouse vampire books are examples of paranormal fiction. “Thank you QueryTracker for the definitions.”
If you are
an erotic romance author sending a request for a book with ménage partners,
please tell me what kind of sex partners are in the book, like F/M/F etc. Below
is a list what we read, so you can kind of get an idea of how long the wait for
reviews may be.
M/F/M 4 reviewers will read this.
F/F 1 reviewers will read this.

Where you’ll find your review
posted: Bitten by Paranormal Romance,
Bitten’s Twitter, Bitten’s Facebook. Each
reviewer has a Goodreads account so each request will be posted there. You can
find the reviewers Goodreads on Meet Bitten’s reviewer’s page.
I also post
reviews on Amazon, but you, the author, will have to let me know to add it and
provide me with the link to the title where it is to be added.
We reserve
the right to refuse submissions, at any point, as we see fit. I have to state
this because sometimes no matter how good the blurb sounds, we may not like it
enough to finish it.
Book
submission does not guarantee a review. If you send a book and we choose not to
review the material, the book will not be returned.
The frame
for your review to show up on the blog will be within about 1 month but it can
take longer when we are buried in review requests.
Formats accepted: PDFs and paperbacks are fine. Some of
us have Kindles and others have Nooks. If you can provide a copy for these
devices, please let me know in the email. It is much easier reading from an
e-reader than a computer.
Reviewers: If you want a certain reviewer,
please let us know in the form when you request the review or if you’re sending
an email please add the reviewers name into the subject. Once you are placed
with a reviewer I like to keep you with them each time you come back because we
tend to get use to an author and vice versa. Unless in some cases where the
reviewer you use is too overloaded and you need the review done quickly or your
reviewer is no longer with us, I will find someone else to review you books.
All reviews are first come first served, so if you have an ARC copy it will still have to wait its turn.
Now how to be reviewed on Bitten by
Paranormal Romance:
You need to fill out the form below. The staffs members look over the request
and send out an email directly to the authors they choose. If you’re a
publisher that is requesting more than one book then please email @ bittenbyparanormalromance(@)gmail(.)com
I will go through
the list at the end of each month and decline those who have not been picked.
