Authors website
Keeper of the demon of Secrets, Amun can manipulate the darkest thoughts of anyone nearby. Death is his only hope of release—until he meets Haidee, a fellow prisoner whose beauty and hidden vulnerability draw him into a reckless test of his loyalty…
Haidee is an infamous demon assassin, raised to despise Amun’s kind. Yet how can she hate the man whose touch sets her aflame? But to save him, she must give herself body and soul…and face the wrath of a powerful adversary sworn to destroy her.(less)

Gena Showalter delivers a deep depth into emotions with The Darkest Secret; LOTU fans will not be disappointed. You may even find yourself hanging onto your book so tight that you’ll leave prints. I fell hard for both Amun and Haidee. Both enemy’s and yet they need each other in a way that is so deep that will leave your mouth hanging open saying I can’t believe Gena pulled this off and yet she didn’t drag the story out or leave you feeling that they were trusted together to fast and hard. Totally brilliant! You get tons of action and secrets galore to unravel.
I enjoyed the way Gena wrote the romance between these two enemies. When Hadiee is brought in by Strider she never dream she would find an attraction among the enemy, nor did Amun. These two need each other in a way that they cant deny. In order to save each other both must pay a price, one pays a higher price by giving their life.
I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough to find out who or what Haidee really was and when I found out, I was left with my mouth hung open saying WOW! Leave it to Gena to think about writing it this way.
As always you get to know the other Lords more. One of the Lords gets his butt kicked by Amun, that right someone should have kept his thoughts or secret to himself LOL.
The only downside I found and it may leave some of you ticked is the sexual tension is very high between these two, but you won’t get to the actual sex for a long, long while, so just hang on. Oh ya, you may get mad almost the end…. Yep, it left me gasping and saying NO! Please don’t leave it this way.. Oh ya, you have to read it to find out what all happeneds.

OH man now you are making me want to read this even more, I figured Amun's book would be good but now it seems like it might top my fave right now which is Gideon's
I knew I shouldn't have read this cos now I want it sooo much more! I'v been waiting for this for so long. I'm glad you liked it!
I am halfway through it and loving it. I love the connection btwn Amun and Haidee and I'm dying to know WHY they have such a special connection.
I also LOVED the scene I just read when Strider was on vaca with Paris and William. Probably one of my fav scenes EVER in these books. Hysterical!!
Sounds like a delightful read!!! Great review!! I know its been a while since I have been on here, and I will definitely have to make sure I visit more often...Hope all is well with you!
Oooh I can't wait to read this one! I got my review copy in the mail yesterday but I have to hold off on it for now :-( Nice review Laurie!

I AM SO JEALOUS! I hate amazon for keeping this book from me. Great review.
I have to be honest. I love this series so much. That I had to make myself not read all of this review. I didn't want to hear any details. I love to be surprised by the book. And Amun so deserves his happy ending after everything he went through for Areon. But thanks for sharing.
Ack, I'm so jealous! I can't wait to get my hands on this. Great review!
I am reading this one right now! I am reading the series out of order but really you kind of can :)

I'm attacking this series slowly (wish I could read more) but can't wait to get to this one!
Gena Showalter and her Lords of the Underworld are fantastic!
I have been WAITING and WAITING for Darkest Secret and reading about Amun. Read to date, Reyes is my favorite character but I'm hooked on all of the LOU's. If only they would be published FASTER!! adelmont2002@yahoo.com
