This is the first in Ms. Keraleigh's Fairy Series.  I really wanted to rate/review this as a 5-An Alpha Howl, but the dialog seemed a bit choppy at times.  Nevertheless, I was not disappointed - nope - nada.  I am expecting great things from Ms. Keraleigh and her Fairy Series!

Oh no, don't be shakin' that head!  I was skeptical at first, too.  Fairies, with wings *chuckle* come on!  It sounded silly to me, but once I started reading, these "muscled models" wearing loincloths had me hooked!  Ms. Keraleigh has written a whimsical fairy world full of scrumptious fairy men and women.  Where one can lounge about on gigantic sunflowers, under the sun (or moon) while waiting for your fairy man to............

The fairy population is dwindling.  King Carrick travels to the earth's surface in search of that rare human female that may be able to see him; in the hopes they can produce offspring.  Once mated, the human body must be prepared by the fairy flavor.  *wagging eyebrows*

Brook is one of those rare females.  King Carrick seduces Brook, the attraction is hot and smokin', and he takes her to his kingdom.  He wants Brook to be his Queen.  Now, Brook loves her fairy man deeply and has decided to stay in the fairy Kingdom and be his Queen, but she would be the one to make the decision when they have children.  Oh, and be on the lookout for Wick, and his "licks".

Everything isn't all gumdrops and lollipops in Fairyland when the trolls set a trap for Carrick and attack Brook.  My heart broke for the wingless fairy, Valen, "a sex God on steroids".  All he wanted was to be loved; not to be alone.

During the Crowing of the Queen and the tasting of the honey, oh my, *fanning self*

I want more Wick and Whisper!  What happened to Thame?!?  And, yes, dammit, Valen too!!!

My Review

Warrior's Rise by LJ DeLeon is an intriguing urban fantasy filled with mystical creatures vying on saving Earth and the ethereal Otherworld from the evil Dark Lord. The survival of both worlds rests on Deva a half-Fae, half-human who has been chosen by the Goddess to be the ultimate warrior and protector against evil forces. Deva along with her full-blooded Fae soulmate, Padraig and her adopted family consisting of weres, mages and a gargoyle work together to organize and mobilize Earth's defenses against the demons emerging through portals to destroy Earth.

The story is quite interesting as it dwells in detail on the various magical creatures that exist alongside humans who have now revealed themselves in order to help save humans and Earth from the invasion of demons set on domination. What I perhaps enjoyed the most about the book is the growing strength in Deva as she slowly began to accept and grow in her role as the protector of Earth yet still remaining humble and staying true to the Light. The growing love between her and Padraig was beautiful as it showed how they gained strength from each other to overcome their fears and perceived weaknesses through their love and compassion for each other.

There was only one detailed love scenes between Deva and Padraig and I wished we had more because I would have wanted to hear more about how their love grew from attraction and a feeling of connection to unconditional, devoted love. However I can understand why this was not focused. As I read this book I understood that the main theme of this story was not the love between Deva and Padraig but the battle between the forces of good and evil and the sacrifices and anguish that occurs in war.

Readers are engaged to wonder what will happen next as surprise alliances and foretold futures are revealed in this futuristic tale of humans and paranormal creatures fighting side by side to save Earth. If you enjoy urban fantasy novels filled with mythological creatures, plots twist and battles between the forces of good and evil then you will enjoy Warrior's Rise.

Eve Langlais writes dangerously sexy and witty novellas. She has become one of my favorite novella authors. Why? Because her writing is brilliant. When you can take two people and throw them together and make it a sexy, fun and fulfilled read in a short amount of time that’s amazing. I never liked novellas before, but with the right author you can have a short read and still feel like you didn’t miss a thing. A couple of more things I love about Eve, She loves writing most of her heroines on the plump size, oh yea, that’s right up my big butt ally LOL. Then there’s the way Eve always come up with these witty saying like this one. “I need a fan or, even better, a really cold ice pack for my crotch.” Oh ya, Eve can come up with all kinds of fun ways to make your reading fun and sexy.

Now, as for The Last Minion Standing it’s extremely hot, witty and fun. I loved the hero Drake he will stop at nothing to make Sally his mate, then again most of us has a thing for the alpha heroes ;) Sally is a bounty hunter for Hell and she always gets her bounty until Drake steps in and steals her bounty. The think is he just may steal Sally’s heart along with it right after he takes on the competition of The Last Minion Standing.

The sex is extremely hot! You get one scene with some very hot phone sex. Then be prepared for flogging, spanking and some rebelling from Sally just so she can have more sex fun LOL. I highly recommend this to any erotic paranormal reader that wants a fun read.

Strengths of the novel include the complex characters, its writing style of poetic prose and rich description, and the well developed, thought-provoking, yet highly entertaining plot.

This fast paced book will appeal to the young adult and adult market. It fits nicely into the paranormal romance and science fiction romance genres and would make a great movie, a captivating TV series and an intriguing video game.

Readers will enjoy the fresh approach and original concept of the world thirty years from now, and will find the characters come to life in their minds long after they read “The End.”

Do you always love what you can’t have?

Melissa Marn: The Smithsonian, Bruce Wilder. I guess I do. But my life is controlled by the SCM now, by my father and General Raul. They decided this fate for me. If I had my way, I’d run off with Bruce somewhere far away...

Diamond: I fell in love with the enemy on accident. I didn’t plan to love Keenan, the military soldier sworn to kill me and my kind. He didn’t plan to love me. We just happened.

If you were a quality?

Melissa Marn: The River. I am methodical like waves. I do the job needed to be done, whatever the cost of erosion, and flow continually. Close to the Earth, but I am cold, because the SCM coaxed me since fifteen, and trained me since twenty-five.

Diamond: The Hawk. This is my other half, the beast inside of me, that the humans fear. I fly above the world and watch. Silent, and steady, but strong.

If you were a flaw?

Melissa Marn: Ice. I am cold, and hard. And too easily I melt and conform to the shape I am enclosed in, that prisoner the SCM has built around my life.

Do you always walk on the moral slippery slope?

Melissa Marn: It’s my job! It’s all I know. And if I didn’t do it, someone else would. What then?  I know the shifters are more than the SCM tells us they are. They must feel something. But what? My curiosity and scientific training drives me. I have to find answers to my questions. I have to perform my duty!

Diamond: But I love him! I know being with him draws danger to my kind, to my family. My sister. But he would never betray me, willingly. I know he loves me too. And though I am sworn to stay away from him, from all SCM, my heart dominates my head.

Favorite food?

Melissa Marn: The Italian restaurant Little Milan. Bruce and I have shared many discussions, heated arguments, and romantic memories there.

Bound by a Wolf Prince is the second book in the Legend of the Foal trilogy, it's steaming hot. The story and characters are a joy to read. This story goes into depth about the bonding mates ceremony, it's was really hot;) I am really enjoying this trilogy so far and can't wait to read the last novella.

Laird Ogiloie employees Prince Eoin to save his captured daughter and bring her back to him. Once Prince Eoin saved the damsel in distress, Freya he finds an attraction to her, one that he doesn't want, but he sure doesn't want to return her just yet either.

Again, I recommend this trilogy to any historical paranormal romance reader that likes some steamy sex in their novella.

Elora’s match is a magical mix between paranormal romance and urban fantasy. This story is told in Elora POV. I enjoyed the story and the magic used in this book. You get a lot of action, danger, magic and hot sex with a bonding.

Elora is a supernatural beings called Different. All Different have magical powers like telepathic, physic incredible strength, etc.., like witches. Elora is one of the more powerful Different; she has quite a few different powers one of which includes psychokinesis. With Elora being so strong you know she has someone eyeballing her powers and wants to killer her, so here is where you action comes in and there is quite a bit of it.

Different have mates and when they find their mate they have a special bonding between them. I myself liked reading this bonding, I’ve always liked the idea of mates being able to share experiences with each other.

I enjoyed the story and the way the author was very clear on the world. What I didn't really care for was the heroine. She can get on someone’s nerves, yep, at times *scratch that* the biggest part of the time becuase it’s all about her. I also didn’t like how she treated Kadin when she found out he was keeping a few secrets from her, hint again it’s all about her.

All in all this is a good read and I would recommend this to any urban fantasy or paranormal romance reader that likes a sexy action story.

Readers that likes Stacey Kennedy The Magical Sword series may like this series.

Wow - what a great story!  Vampire Noir!

Belladonna is a small town, backwoods girl whose dreams of Bela Lugosi lead her to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.  It doesn’t take Belladonna long to learn that fame and fortune is a fickle mistress.  And just when she is feeling hopeless, Vivant spies her.

Vivant was captivated by her.  The pink blush on her cheek, the soft, blood-red lips, and the scent of innocence that came off her skin was like expensive perfume to him, a rare and heady aroma.

Vivant - here is a Vampire worth loving, and well, maybe hating on occasion.  A rich, beautiful, talented, and egotistical immortal who thought “everybody should love him”.  Belladonna doesn’t fall at his feet in worship and the sparks start to fly.  The love/hate relationship of “Bells” and Vivant is explosive and carnal.  She is still captivated with Bela Lugosi and is more determined than ever to meet him.  When Bells’ brother, Cal, shows up in town looking for her, he falls in with the wrong crowd.  And things really start rockin’!

“Aren’t you going to apologize for vomiting on my shoes?  I’m not impressed,” he told Cal.

“You’re shoes?  You want me to apologize for ruining your shoes?”  

“Yes, Cal, that would be the civilized thing to do.” 

Cal looked at him with incredulity.  He’d just shot half his face off and wanted him to say he was sorry for spewing on his shoes.

Yes, it does contain a few bloody bits, but they don’t last very long, and I feel they are central to the storyline.   VAMPIRE VINTAGE BOOK ONE delivers a riveting tale of jealousy and vengeance, ending with a HFN.  If you need a change from the Vamp-du-jour, this will satisfy your appetite.  Be sure to read the Acknowledements and Glossary of Terms at the very end of the book.  I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

Healing Heart’s is a sweet romance with tons of sexual tension. I enjoyed reading this novella. You’ll find the hero very damaged from a war and the heroine very mad at him, but it doesn’t take long for her to warm up. This is not a fast paced action read, it heartfelt story between two people that already loved each other. I loved the authors writing style and I will be reading more of her books in the future. I recommend this to anyone that would like a hot sweet novella romance.

I have about 17 books out from various big publishers like Avon, Kensington, Harlequin and a couple at reputable epublishers like Samhain Publishing.  So I’m definitely not a new author. I’ve been around for about six years.  I’ve found some success especially from my Valorian Chronicles series published by Harlequin Nocturne, but not nearly enough to call my career set, or lucrative.  It’s hard out there for a mid-list author.

For the past three years, I’ve been writing new stuff and trying to get in at another publisher.  I get weepy when I think about how many times I’d almost gotten the deal.  How many times I’ve heard “I love this…but we just bought something similar.” Or “I love this…but not sure where it will fit.”  Just like numerous other authors out there, it’s been so close but yet so far, for whatever reason.

Now I don’t harbour bad feelings toward publishers.  They have a certain list to fill with certain types of books that they know will sell.  I get that. Absolutely.  They are in business to sell books and make money.  An editor  has to love your book and know they can sell it to take a chance on it.  It’s tough out there for editors too.  And for agents who agonize with the author when they don’t get that deal, when they can’t sell the book.  It sucks for everyone.

But now there’s this beautiful thing out there called indie e-publishing.  Now, I, and authors like me, don’t have to let that book go. We don’t have to hide it under the ‘bed’ and move on to something else, something new.  Now we can get it out there to the readers and let them decide whether it’s good or not or if it deserves a spot on the virtual bookshelf.  It’s never been a better time for authors or readers alike.

Now there are 1000s of new books to choose from almost every day. Books that may have never been given a chance before.  And on top of that, a reader can get these books at amazing prices.

For me it wasn’t a hard choice to self-publish Glimmer.  It just made sense.   The book made the rounds at the big publishers and couldn’t find a home.  But to me, I’ve always believed it deserved to be out there and to let the readers decided if they wanted to read it.  So with my agent’s blessing I dusted it off, prettied it up, got a cover designed, got it professionally edited and put it out there.

And I couldn’t be happier by the results

Dee's Thoughts:

She is part human and part fae. She has a father she loves, who has always been her rock. She has a mother who deserted her, and literally drained the life force from her father. She has an extremely dominant, sexy alpha werewolf intent on having her in his bed, but there maybe ulterior motives. Now she is going through the change transforming her into fae, something she never wanted, but can no longer prevent. Oh and did I mention the mother she has hated for most of her life pops up to “help”. Facing all of these different emotions, possible betrayals, and an impeding war, at this point in time it sucks to be Nina Decker.

This was filled with twists and turns, action, drama, sexual tension, and more. I truly enjoyed this read, but I must say I am disappointed that is was a mere novella. Anna has created an interesting world and her story line was strong. There was so much more I would have loved for Anna to go a little deeper into and the ending is killing me. J That being said I still greatly enjoyed this quick read.
