Guest post with author Stacey Kennedy + giveaway

Huge thanks to Bitten by Paranormal for hosting me today as part of the 1NS Decadent Blog Tour. I have a special treat for everyone. I’ll be giving away both TAKEDOWN AND SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN, plus some awesome swag!

I wrote Takedown as a little test for myself to see if I could do it. I had never written an m/m story before and had no idea if I could pull it off! I hope that I didn’t disappoint! I will say that I enjoyed writing the story much more than I thought I would, mainly because it gave me the opportunity to write two Alpha men. It’s far different to write m/m than m/f. The reason is that men just don’t hold the same emotions women do. And I like that about writing women. I love being inside a woman’s mind and going through what they do as they fall in love. Men, especially in erotic romance, care more about the steamy lust than what their heart is telling them. But by the end of the story, I realized it was far hotter than I expected. Both Wyatt and Rye are men to take seriously. Wyatt, a U.S. Marshal, and Rye is a UFC fighter, so the testosterone running through their veins is HUGE and these characters were so yummy to write.

After finishing TAKEDOWN, I knew that SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN would follow. As much as I loved the men together, they needed a woman in the middle of them to soften them, and thus came Darby. Truthfully, I had no idea how it would all play out, but her appearance in their lives made me sigh, repeatedly. What can I say? I love my men Alpha, but I love it more when I see how a woman can make them crumple to their knees!
So, here’s a little peek at the stories and also a review by Bitten by Paranormal Romance of Somewhere in Between. If these stories sound right up your alley, leave me a comment with your email address to be entered to win, TAKEDOWN AND SOMEHWERE IN BETWEEN. Don’t forget to come find me on Facebook and Twitter. I love to chat!!

U.S. Marshal Wyatt Tanning has been on the hunt for a killer on the run in Turks and Caicos. A week into the investigation, he has absolutely nothing to show for his efforts. Feeling defeated he returns to Castillo Resort to drown his frustrations. There he meets UFC fighter, Rye Daniels. Now the resort’s bartender, Rye recognizes a man that has been beaten down, but he also senses a shared attraction that is hard to ignore. Wyatt might not be ready to step out from behind the shadow of lies, but Rye will stop at nothing to unleash the beast within.

Cynthia's review of Take Down below

Well now – that’s a hook-up! And I would expect no less from Ms. Kennedy and Decadent’s 1NS series. The cover alone lets the reader know they are in-store for hot deliciousness!

Both Wyatt and Rye, separately, contacted 1NS dating service months ago, hoping the agency would be able to connect them with a female of their dreams; if only for one night. What they don’t expect is their mutual attraction toward each other. Wyatt is hesitant to acknowledge his emotions because of his position as a U.S. Marshall. Whereas, Rye has no doubts about how he feels for the rough and rugged Wyatt. The initial seduction of Wyatt is volatile and what immediately follows between the two alphas is explosive.

Ms. Kennedy teases near the end with the same cryptic text message sent from Madame Eve, of 1NS, to both Rye and Wyatt. Which leads me to believe these two may get their match from 1NS yet. A girl can dream……

U.S. Marshal, Wyatt Tanning is in a race to catch a serial killer who has evaded the authorities. Just as the case hits a dead end, an unexpected email gives him a lead. As much as he wants to share the surprising message with his lover, Rye Daniels, he must hunt a killer first.
Darby Grant never expected that one night would change her life forever, but that’s exactly what happened. Not only has she been abducted, but she is in a situation that nightmares are made of. As she begins to lose all hope, fate steps in to offer her aid, but she’s well aware things will never be the same again. Soon, though, Darby begins to realize that might not be such a bad thing…
*Warning: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Male/male sexual practices and ménage.
Below is wild about bones review of Somewhere in Between
What better way could there be to get over a terrible experience than to be embraced and loved by two men? Her therapist told her she should get out and start living again.

Rye, his lover of a few months, makes Wyatt happy but he wants a woman to have kids with. He nor Rye realized they were bisexual until going to Madam Eve's match making service. Wyatt doesn't understand why he's so intent on personally seeing to Darby's safety.

Darby’s a torture victim of Wyatt's latest serial killer case. When her home is broken into a month later and Wyatt is there to help, she gladly takes him up on his offer to stay at a hotel in adjoining rooms. She has a nightmare of being a captive and the torture she endured and runs to Wyatt's room and asks to sleep in bed between him and Rye, who'd joined him earlier. She felt so safe with them and had the best sleep she's had in years.

Who is Madam Eve and how does she know exactly what everyone wants and needs even if they don't know it themselves?

Some m/m oral and groping along with a ménage love scene.

At 46 pages, this is a very quick read with lots of chemistry between all three main characters and a good story line

The last of his kind…

Rekkus is the last of the great Black Tiger weres and he is happy to stay that way. Working as security for the Wiccan Haus, a magical spa for inner healing, he has enough danger – and women – to keep him busy. Unfortunately, the Fates are not content with him being comfortable.

Alone and discouraged…

Dana has walked away from all she has known, her fiancé, family, apartment, and job. Now, having a ticket to the Wiccan Haus may be the only way she can move on. But what she finds isn’t what she expects, nor is it what she thought she was looking for.

Meet the unusual residents of the Wiccan Haus. The staff can get a little hairy and not all of the guests eat what’s served in the dining hall. But the proprietors always do what they can to make the resort into a place of healing and peace, using all of their years of practice. At the Haus, where humans and Paras reside side-by-side, everyone in need of the Rowan siblings’ services are welcome.

WELCOME TO THE WICCAN HAUS.

Fantastic story and a great romance.
You get a great storyline with this novella. Dominique takes you into some islands off of Maine and gives you witches, vamps, shifters and a lot of other bump in the night creatures. I enjoyed getting to know them and can’t wait for the next book.

Rekkus is a very dominating shifter that really doesn’t want a mate but when a woman comes to the inn for vacation he just cannot stop nor can she.

I recommend this to anyone who likes a good short read with some great characters.

Guest romance author Selena Blake

What do Romance Novels and Haircuts Have in Common?
By Selena Blake

During dinner the other night my fingers played a game of channel surfing with the remote. I happened upon an episode of What Not to Wear. You know the show. They take a woman who's let herself go and doesn't have a clue about modern fashion and turn her into a swan. Okay, I'm paraphrasing.

This particular episode was about the Worst Dressed Woman in America. I kid you not; this woman wore a pirate costume/outfit every day. Evidently she made some of the pieces herself.

Anyhow, the time came for her to pick a new hairstyle. There were three ideas for her to choose from. I suppose we have similar tastes. She picked the shoulder length, wavy, blonde style.

And boy did that change her look. Sure, her clothes were different (fabulous) as was her make-up (beautiful) but it was really the hair. I don't have to tell you how a fabulous haircut can change your life. I know that sounds drastic and exaggerated, but take it from a woman who's been down in the dumps. A fresh new do can really change how you feel about yourself, your energy level, even the way you see the world.

Now, I don't know why a concoction of chemicals on your head and losing a pound or two of hair can change things so much. I just accept it.

Romance novels are like that. A good one can make you feel years younger, help you remember a time when you didn't have a care in the world, take you back to the early moments in your relationship where everything (even a flat tire in the rain!) was fun and exciting. Romance novels can change your world view, teach you things, even show you what kind of person you want to be. And what sort of person you don't want to be.

I've gotten emails from women who've been taken out of their stressful lives for a few hours thanks to my books. I've heard from women who read my books while waiting in a hospital waiting rooms. There's nothing as wonderful to me as knowing that my books have brightened a woman's day, especially on a day where she really needed a pick me up.

So if you don't have time for an appointment with your hair stylist, pick up a romance novel. Or better yet, read a romance while you're getting a new do.

ARC Review The Wolf Within by Sandrea Bennett

Title :The Wolf Within
Source: Author request
Lenght: Novella
Genre: Wolf Shifter- paranormal romance
Release Date November 21 ,2011

Will his love be enough to keep her safe?

Julie doesn’t know what to think when the man she’s had a crush on her entire life--a man she thinks is meant to be her sister's mate--starts flirting with her after she returns home from college. The harder she tries to distance herself, the harder he works to win her over. He can’t want to mate with her...a freak born a full human among shifters. So why won’t he accept her rejection?

Brendan's waited years for Julie's return. Now that she’s finally home, there’s nothing to keep him from her...not even her three alpha wolf brothers. But he’s not the only one after Julie. Something is stalking her and Brendan's protective instincts toward her kick in, but at what cost?

When the unthinkable happens, will Julie and Brendan's love give them the strength they need to persevere?

Sondrea writes some very lovable characters into a good short hot novella. At the beginning of this novella the hero and heroine moved a little too fast but before long they seemed to slow down so I could get a feel for the romance between them and before I knew it I had the whole novella gobbled up left me wanting more.
Once Brendan and Julie get over their little problem there’s no stopping them because they are great together.  I recommend this romance to anyone who loves a quick sexy read and let me tell you there’s one scene that’s worth the price it was hot.
Now I just have to get the author in gear to get Laurie’s story out and I’ll be a happy camper LOL.

Review:  4 – A Pack Howl
Sexual:  4 – Four Alarm Fire #@!%$

This is a quick read and one I enjoyed.  I really liked the characters in this book and found I was able to easily relate to Keira.  I totally understood her need to control everything and be the caretaker of the family.  I know how hard it can be to let go and how easily it is to lose yourself in the process.  Mari Carr's writing is well done and her characters were very real to me.

The book contains hot sex scenes, even if some of them are just fantasies.  The only thing that kept me from giving this a higher rating is the first date between Keira and Will.  I understand he is a Dom, but the scene in the parking lot and the conversation at the table put me off a bit.  I think I would have slapped a man for talking to/insulting me in that manor.  Keira takes his comments on her appearance, clothing and behavior entirely too well.  Other than that scene, I liked Will, even if he is a Steelers fan!

Review: 5 – An Alpha Howl
Sexual:  4 – Four Alarm Fire #@!%$

This is the first time I have read a book by Mari Carr and I have to say if her other books are like Come Monday then the author has just found herself a new follower. I was surprised that such a short book could pack so much oomph in it.

Keira is a 27 year old woman trying to be everything to everyone except living and enjoying her own life. Taking on the task of raising her six younger siblings after their mother died along with helping run the Irish family pub/restaurant with her dad and going to school to further her education, it doesn't leave much room for Keira to have fun and enjoy life. That is until she starts fantasizing about her hunky English professor which she sees as a problem versus a solution to her non-existent love life. As it turns out Will, her gorgeous professor has been having fantasies of his own about Keira, but his run a little darker as he is a Dom who would love to make Keira his sub and together experience some kinky fun.

Will introduces Keira to some kinky stuff that I was at first surprised that she would so willingly and eagerly engage in as she has never heard of some of the stuff that he introduces her to. Her willingness to engage so freely in sex toys and in some back door activity, without any arguments or concerns made me wonder if it was too easy or too fast. The end result was some very hot, scorching scenes that jumped off the pages and made some cold showers necessary.

What was wonderful to see develop was Will's growing feelings about the nature of the relationship and about Keira herself. In the beginning he may have felt this would be just another Dom/sub relationship, but Keira's determination to maintain control in various parts of her life and Will's discovery that there was something more happening between the two of them then just physical gratification made him a lovable character. Will is a very hot, Alpha male who knows how to bring Keira some unimaginable levels of ecstasy, but is able to demonstrate kindness , love and the willingness to let her be her own woman.

Warning this book has scenes of bondage, sex toys and some anal action so if you feel uncomfortable reading those types of scenes you have been warned, however that being said, they were some of the hottest and most erotic scenes I have seen written and definitely get an A for setting the pages and the reader on fire.

Review:  4 – A Pack Howl
Sexual:  4 – A Four Alarm Fire #@!%$

Mari Carr, you have earned yourself a brand new fan!  I picked this up from B&N not knowing what to expect - it being a free-read and all.  Well HOT DAYUM!!!  Not only does Ms. Carr deliver up a smokin’ D/s romance, but she introduces a likeable Irish-American family too.

Keira is a college student with the hots for her teacher, Professor Mr. William Wallace.  And here lately, her imagination has been getting the best of her as she:

envisioned herself tied spread-eagle to his bed as he whispered her name again.  Tied to his bed?  What the hell kind of image was that?

The relationship between Will and Keira develops quite swiftly.  Will’s Dominant is a joy to watch as he struggles to come to terms with the “innocent” Keira and his desire to have her; especially since she isn’t his type.  Keira is overworked at the family restaurant/pub and terribly undersexed.  Well, until Will enters the picture.  I especially liked that Will is a caring Dominant who explains his actions to Keira.

Oh yeah, Girls, keep the ice water handy!  And this is only Book One of Seven of the Wild Irish Series.  Count me in….

Review:  4 - A Pack Howl

Very sexy and a real quick read.

Keira is a 27 year old who has gone back to college after taking care of her family for the past six years. Imagine her consternation when her creative writing professor is so hot she can't keep her mind on the class. "He made her think completely inappropriate thoughts and she’d be damned if she became a cliché—the college coed who falls in love with her professor."

Will, 35 year old Professor Wallace, has tried "to understand the grip this young woman had on him. He’d never been attracted to a student before, yet from the first moment she’d stepped foot in his class, Keira Collins had shaken [him]."

With only two weeks left, Will invites Keira to his office to go over her C grade which he is sure she is not happy about.  They agree to meet in the mornings to help her bring up her grades.

As soon as the semester is over, Will visits Keira at her family's pub and restaurant and ends up asking her out to dinner.  From there, it is full speed ahead.

Delves a bit into the BDSM lifestyle but nothing over the top, mostly dominance and a little bondage.

Review:  4 - A Pack Howl
Sexual:   4 - Four Alarm Fire #@!%$

I really enjoyed the writing style that Mari Carr offers. This is a good read for people who likes D/S and for new readers to D/S.  This is a short novella that takes you into a heated romance relationship and a woman who is trying to learn to live again after her mother’s passing and taking care of her siblings. You get quite a bit emotions along some smoking hot sex in a quick no brainier read how much better can you get? You can’t in my books.

I enjoyed this installment and will be reading the rest of the series.

Review: 5 – An Alpha Howl
Sexual:  4 – Four Alarm Fire #@!%$

Just read this over again for the BittenbyParanormalRomance group read. I loved it even more the second time. Keira is such a strong, caring, and amazing woman. She spends her time trying to take care of the pub and her family on top of taking college classes. Watching her fall hard for her professor was a treat. Will is intelligent, kind, and very much a Dom. He was more of a full-time Dom since he definitely took it outside of the bedroom. He did it in a way that was obviously based on his desire to completely take care of Keira. Not for everybody, but it worked for her. The sex scenes in this story were plentiful, extremely well written and smoking hot!

It's a short so the focus must be limited to make it a good story. In this case, it was focused on the two of them deciding to move forward in a relationship. There was plenty of dialogue so I felt like I really got to know both of the main characters. There was also a bit of an introduction to all of the brothers and sisters which are featured in their own stories.

Review Merryweather Lodge - Malevolent Spirit (Book 2) by Pauline Holyoak

Title: Merryweather Lodge - Malevolent Spirit (Book 2)
Author: by Pauline Holyoak
Source: Author request
Genre: Horror, paranormal romance
Length: Novel

It’s Christmastime at Merryweather Lodge. Emily has returned to the cottage from her home in Canada; after the untimely death of someone she loved. Will she be able to celebrate a traditional English Christmas in her aunts enchanting little cottage or will she be tormented by the hideous creature, again? Was Emily’s attempt to banish her unearthly adversary successful? Will her aunt disclose the secrets she has been concealing for so many years? What will happen when Emily’s best friend comes to visit her? What secrets will she reveal? Will Emily ever get to make love to the man of her dreams? A chilling tale of love, passion, sorcery and sacrifice; laced with mystery and tied with humor. Inspired by the authors own experiences in a remote little cottage near Stonehenge

Pauline Holyoak delivers another bone chilling story. This is the second book in the Malevolent Sprit trilogy and it takes you deeper into the myth around Merhia and the lodge then the first book. You get a better look into how Merthia the creature came about. Pauline still keeps the same pace where you understand all the elements going on and the way she explains it you feel like your right there and that’s where the creepiness really gets you.

Emily gets even more grief this time around from the spirit of  Merhia. She and Jonathan’s love life gets very spicy as their love continues to grow spite the fact Merhia is trying to sabotage their every step together. Emily also find out her best friend kinda of has a thing for her. Yep, this one get's very interesting.

My downside this time was I wished Emily would have believed in her powers and used them more in getting rid of Merthia.

If you want a good storytelling paranormal romance with a touch of horror that will leave you a bit creep out as your reading, then you have to try both books. This can be a standalone but I would highly recommend you to read the first in the series.

My Review:

3.5 Stars!!! A cute paranormal romance featuring ghost hunters, ghosts, demons, murder, kidnapping and an unlikely romance.

Betty "Boo" Boorman is a member of "the Savannah Spirit Seekers [who] have been investigating reported hauntings in Savannah, Georgia, for the past two years."

They get called to investigate a haunting with another Savannah ghost hunting team. During a press conference for the case, Betty notices a man staring at her from the shadows ... with red eyes! When the press conference is over she tries to find him but he's gone.

Later that night while finishing her wine at the bar, she meets a "most beautiful man" who tells her it's his job to know what to do to help her other client and gives her a card which reads "Maxwell, Demon" He tells her, "When you decide you want to know what’s haunting Sam MacIntosh, give me a call" and leaves. When Sam's case gets physical, Betty decides to call Maxwell for more insight into the case. They have dinner and he gives her something to get rid of Sam's haunting entity. She still doesn't believe Maxwell is a demon until after their second 'date' and then he proves it to her in several ways. Much to her consternation, she finds she's falling for him. When he tells her he's falling for her, she's lost.

A quick read and fans of ghost hunting stories and television shows should like this.

My Review:

This is a good historical western romance that ends up with not one but two romances with two more burgeoning romances. It also features a brutal massacre, a man with no face who stays in the shadows, betrayal, Indians, land grabbing cold murdering cattle barons, cattle rustling and a couple of subplots.

Mandy, the female lead, is a strong willed young lady whose father has been murdered leaving her a ranch that McCandle wants. She is able to talk telepathically with the Grandmothers and she sees visions. The Grandmothers tell her she is to marry Hawk but she doesn't want to nor is the alternative acceptable. It is not Hawk she objects to but marriage itself. She's dreamed of him for years and loved him for as long. She knows they've been together in other lifetimes she and is actually drawn to Hawk. He awakens feelings in her she didn't know existed. With just one smoldering look, he set her blood on fire.

Six year old Jordy McClain, raised by the Cheyenne, becomes Hawk (the male lead) - the "White Indian", when going to live with the Lakota after seeing his birth father murder his friends and their families. Hawk is a bit on the gifted side. He fights his attraction to Mandy even though he knows they are destined to be together. He feels his soul is already lost, he can't drag her down too. And when she learns his secret, he's sure she won't want him.

Hawk and Mandy are perfect for each other - both strong willed, stubborn and willing to do what needs to be done to get what they want - revenge.

The story has a slow beginning but like a snowball rolling downhill, or an avalanche, it gathers speed and mass. The first quarter of the book is told solely from Mandy's point of view. Then the story starts to get better when we get Hawk's point of view as well.

From the publisher's description I was expecting it to be more paranormal. A little mystical is a better description. Stick with the Goodreads.com description - it is more accurate.

After reading the first book in the trilogy (Fifty Shades of Grey) I couldn't wait to read this book and it did not disappoint me. This book had so much happening and so many highs and lows that you should be prepared to take a lot of cold showers (or tackle your significant other often) and also have a box of tissues beside you to get through the heart-wrenching scenes.

This book gave us a deeper look into why Christian embraced the BDSM lifestyle and since meeting Ana made him question so many aspects of himself. It was amazing to see how the author was able to make the reader get into both Christian and Ana's mind and allow the reader to feel their passion (Wow they were scorching hot), love, anguish, despair and desperation. Not to give out any spoilers, but there were several eye-opening revelations that occurred in the book that left my mouth open in awe.

What more can I say without spoiling it. Christian and Ana continue to try and see if they can work through their differences, and it is not only internal issues at play, but external forces are at work as well. Fundamentally the story focuses on Christian's path to self-discovery, acceptance and learning about unconditional love. Christian has been in the dark for so long, but Ana manages to show him the light, not only around him and in their relationship, but within himself.

The author likes to include the title of songs throughout the two book and there were two songs that popped in my mind that reflect certain scenes in the book: "Don't Go" by KC and the Sunshine Band and "We Found Love" by Rhianna. Just the emotional impact of the scenes makes those songs stand out in my mind. As you can tell I became completely engrossed with this book and it was on my mind during my waking hours (and in my dreams too LOL) which is always a very good indication for me of a fantastically well written book.

I cannot stop gushing about this book (trilogy in fact as I can't wait to read Fifty Shades Freed - Book 3 out January 2012) and about the author. If I could nominate best new author for 2011 I would nominate E.L. James and recommend her to everyone. So what are you waiting for? Grab yourself a piece of Fifty and be prepared for a wild and exciting ride.
