Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own-steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter-the love neither had thought possible...

Finally Strider gets his story and it was fun to read about his struggles with Kaia the Harpy. Strider knows he is attracted to Kaia but he doesn't want to get involved with her because he knows it will only cause him pain, physical pain from his demon Defeat. Kaia has slept with Paris and even though Strider knows his is good in bed he questions himself on how he will feel completing against Paris. He knows everytime he will try to bed Kaia his demon will want to rise to the challenge of beating Paris in every aspect in the sack which if he doesn't win will lead to pain from Defeat. Whether in bed or otherwise he knows Kaia will always be a challenge to him.
After finding out that the Paring Rod is the prize in the Harpy games that Kaia must participant in Strider agrees to go as her consort not only to capture the last remaining artifact but also because he cares for Kaia more then he wishes to admit.
The story covers a lot of detail surrounding the Harpy games and Kaia's determination to prove herself because of her past incident that lead to the deaths of many Harpies. As the games progress the sexual tension that develops between the two of them reaches a fever pitch.
Even though it took a long time for the two of them to get together it was worth the wait, however I just wished there were more sexy scenes. LOL I loved how Strider created a challenge that both of them could enjoy and still meet his demon's needs (multiples now takes on a different meaning LOL).
The side stories in the book were just as interesting surrounding Paris, William and Kane and out of all of them there is something about William that I love and can't wait to read his book. Based on who he is I would love to learn about his struggles to become who is is today and what special lady will win his heart and soul. :)

Love Gena Showalter :) Paris' story comes out in 3 days! YAY..
Loved Strider's book. But then again, I love this entire series! Looking for ward to Paris' book next week :)
This is actually my favorite LOTU book. I loved it! Your right, multiple now has a whole new meaning for me! ;o)
LOL hi everyone!
I love the LOTU series and I can't wait to read Paris' story too, but I woulds really now LOVE to read about William. :)
Great review! I absolutely love this series and Strider and Kaia together totally crack me up. I can't wait to read Paris's book! Just one more week! and I love William and want to find out everything about him too!
Ning @ Reading by Kindle Fire
I have to say that the LOTU clan is one of my favorites! I have read all of them and preordered Paris' book. I also REALLY want to find out what happens with William. And Torin. And the rest of them!
@Tina Oh I have been waiting FOREVER for Torin's book. He seems such a tortured soul in some ways. Love his description as he sounds like a sexy beast!
I want The Hag (from Immortals after Dark) and Torin to get together! I know it would probably never happen b/c they're signed to different publishers but how awesome would that be! And let's not forget the Nix did make an appearance in Darkest Whisper. If I was a decent writer I would sooo write a fanfic. Alas, my writing skills suck. lol
