Interview with Nana Malone
Please help me in welcoming author Nana Malone! Today we are going to talk to her about her book Reluctant Protector.
Author Bio:
My love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense I borrowed from my cousin on a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana at a precocious thirteen. I've been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With my overactive imagination, and channeling my inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before I started creating my own characters.
Waiting for my chance at a job as a ninja assassin, I, meantime work out my drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as I thinks I am. Though, until that ninja job comes through, you’ll find me acting out scenes for hubby and puppy while catching up on my favorite reality television shows in sunny San Diego.
Would you tell us a little about yourself?
I’ve lived all over the world but my family is originally from Ghana. Growing up, I was always itchy for new adventures and slamming my nose in a book was the easiest, safest way I could manage it. It was during one of my less successful adventures in New York that I decided to actually do something about my writing hobby and aim for publication. It took me eleven years, three completed manuscripts and more rejections than I care to count but I’m finally here.
Do you have any hobbies besides writing?
I love taking pictures. To me photography is just another medium to tell stories.
Do you have a process in your writing routine?
I used to just wing it. Then I tried a crazy detailed outline. Now I do a skeleton outline and go from there. With a day job, husband and baby, writing pretty much gets done where I can squeeze it in. Lol.
Would you tell us a little about what you're working on next?
Funny you should ask that. My next novel, titled Sexy in Stilettos is a fun, flirty contemporary and will be available this April. The sequel to Reluctant Protector, Forsaken Protector, will be available in the early part of summer.
In your book, Reluctant Protector, one of the things I was curious about was the people that developed gifts because they were exposed to the chemicals Peter was experimenting with. Are only some types of people affected? Or is everyone affect, but in different ways.
Ooh, good question. I'll try to answer without giving too much away. There are a couple of ways to get powers. The first, you have to be injected. It works better on those that are seriously ill. The other way to get powers is much more...erm, fun. You'll just have to read the book to see how.
Will future books continue to explore the relationship between Seth and Cassie?
Another good question. The next books will have other couples as the focal point, but you will still be able to follow Seth and Cassie's journeys.
Will the effects of experiments wear away over time if the subjects aren't continuously exposed to them?
Oh man. I don't want to give too much away. But this one is a safe answer. No. Once your genetic code has been altered. It's altered forever.
Here are a few fun questions about which you prefer...
Ebooks or print? Ebook. I love the smell and feel of print, but I'm a fast reader and need to have a library with me at all times. Books are heavy to cart around.
Boxers, briefs, or commando for your hero's?
Sometimes boxers, sometimes commando. NEVER briefs. Who still wears those?
Cat or dog?
Dog. We have a rambunctious Scottish Terrier.
Favorite movie and TV show?
Movie is a hard one. It changes. But I'll say Pride and Prejudice. I love the story and I'm a huge fan of Keira Knightly.
As for TV, Burn Notice, hands down. I love me some Michael Weston and Fiona.
Favorite food and/or place to eat?
Plantain. I can have it any way and I'm happy. Fried, broiled, baked. Whatever. I love it.
Thank you so much for having me.
Thank you for taking the time to hang out with us today! It's been a blast!

Oh, you had me at the title! Protectors are my favorite heroes. But the promise of fun ways to get powers is also enticing! :-)
