-How'd you get the idea for this book?

A wise woman once said that your first novel is always a little bit autobiographical. Books are therapy and your demons will be confined to the page. What these wise women failed to mention is that every book you write is autobiographical, especially in Violet Jordan’s case.
In the case of Diaries of an Urban Panther, Violet was unabashedly me in a slightly taller, slightly more stubborn, slightly more preternatural version. Diaries was born out of an intense need to see a normal chubby heroine in paranormal situation. I’d read every necromancer and vampire hunter out there and couldn’t see me on the page. Yes, they were strong and I like to think of myself as strong, but they kicked ass. I try not to make a habit of that. They have guns and cross bows and I have a Louisville slugger under my bed and I dog with bat-like ears.

Experience the Heights of Passion and the Depths of Desire

We've all been there—so taken by a lover that you just can't stop thinking about him. Your imagination runs wild, fueling your fantasies. You feel hot, feverish, out of control. Your only hope of release is to possess and be possessed. In Obsessed: Erotic Romance for Women, Rachel Kramer Bussel has curated a gloriously explicit collection of riveting romance with an edge. Whether just-blooming passions, rekindled sparks, or reinvented relationships, these lovers put the object of their obsession first. From the almost-divorced couple in "Aftershocks," by Bella Andre, who finally confess their deepest desires during an earthquake to a woman who tells her boyfriend just how much she lusts after another man in Emerald's "Then," these lovers push the boundaries of their trust, and are rewarded for taking those risks. Obsessed lovers don't always do what is rational; sometimes they chase their dreams, as in Kayla Perrin's "One Night in Paris," across the world and across the landscape of their lovers' bodies. Lustful and literary, Obsessed asks just how far you'll go for the man you love.

Kristin Miller Virtual Tour Last Vamp Standing and giveaway

My Special Brand of Dark

Last Vamp Standing (Vampires of Crimson Bay #3) has been called “the darkest and grittiest of the series” by early reviewers. Although the heroine is a vampire, and some scenes take place in a bleak urban setting, I didn’t really think the book was that dark…at first.

Sure, the book features a tortured hero who quite literally feeds off of sex and violence. There’s a villain hell bent on wiping out vampires in Crimson Bay. There are vampire elders who wield all kinds of wicked-cool powers and a kick ass battle at the end where blood spills onto the page. I winced while writing it. No joke.
Okay, okay, so it’s a bit darker than the others. Why’d I choose to write the book darker over lighter?

I didn’t choose to write it that way. Not really. I wrote what I knew. What was in my heart.

My preferences in everything have been dark since I was young. I read Dean Koontz and John Saul when friends were reading Anne of Green Gables. I watched gory action movies over Disney from too young of an age. (Lethal Weapon and Die Hard, anyone?) I even prefer dark chocolate to milk chocolate…especially if that chocolate is Ghirardelli…with a chilled mint center. Ahem.

Guess you could say I love “dark and gritty” all around. If you’re anything like me, Last Vamp Standing just might be right up your shadowed, adrenaline-lovin’ alley.
