Author: Lynsay Sands
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Length: Novel (320pgs) Release Date: Feb 26 2013
A kiss doesn’t mean eternity . . .
Valerie Moyer doesn’t
believe in vampires—until she is kidnapped by a fanged psychopath! After
escaping her bloodthirsty captor, she’s through with creatures of the
night. Until she finds herself under the protection of the darkly
handsome Anders. Not only is she expected to accept that Anders is
immortal, but also that she is the woman destined to be his life mate!
. . . Or does it?
Anders felt a connection to Valerie from the moment he cradled her
bruised body in his arms. But before he claims her, he must destroy the
vampire who almost stole her from him forever. His job would be easier
if Valerie didn’t fight him every step of the way. Still, Anders loves a
challenge, and the green-eyed beauty is worth fighting for!
Since the fifth installment of the Argeneau series I've really found the books to be hit or miss. Unfortunately, Immortal Ever After was a miss for me. With a strong start I was excited to delve deeper, but by the 25% mark I was down-right bored :(
The heroine was great to read. Strong, smart, and witty Valerie held all of the characteristics that I love in a feature female. But the hero...... Oh, Anders how I was disappointed in you. He was dull to the point of being robotic. I actually started to 'hear' his character speaking like Robot from Lost in Space! It really is a shame. Opposites attract to a point, but their clandestine mating just seemed too unrealistic.
Another problem was the lack of action. With an evil rogue with a fancy for kidnapping mortals still on the loose I thought for sure there would be a great climactic fight scene at some point. Once again my expectations were let down. The take-down of the villain was as anti-climactic as you can get. In fact, it was a very small, and almost irrelevant part of the book.
I have a fond place in my book loving heart for Sands and her Argeneau series, so I will hold out hope that the next in the series will be a hit.
